Email spam

This might be an old question, but I've started getting email spam from the same person at the same email address.  I made sure that person was in my blocked list and I put his domain in the blocked list also.  I even went into Nortons and added that information into the blocked email list.  I'm still getting email from that address.  I contacted my ESP and described my problem and gave them the email address and I was told to change my email password and run a virus check on my PC.  What good would changing my email password do?  They don't need my password to send me spam, do they?  Is there any other way I can block this address?  It isn't offensive email, just advertising.

Correct on both counts smiley

I think it's better to block at the ISP level, if possible. That way the trash doesn't get to my machine which makes it harder to infect.yes

I thought your email provider can already block it. You can always add that email address to the spam list, then it should be fine, especially it comes from same address every time.

They may not need your password to send you spam. ISP's suggestion might help them isolate the problem.

A full system virus scan also cannot hurt. Add a free scan from Malwarebytes and Super Anti Spyware. yes
