Yes I am the one who posted the screen shots. s_the_fallen
Still have no answer. Where is the link?
I opened up a case with software support. They said I had to fill out a false positive report to open a case with the engineers. I did that. They responded with contact the software support. Great customer support Norton!
Thanks for all the info bjm. These are all things I am aware of already. The issue is the product cannot pin point what and where the direct threat is. The customer support from Norton has been awful.
Hi schreckmusic,
The link to adnxs.com is probably posted in a thread somewhere on the site's forum. Have you logged into the site and searched for adnxs? That might take you to the offending post which you could then flag for moderator attention.
Hi SendOfJive,
That was the first thing I did. Thanks for the suggestion though.
The link could have been removed since the site was tested.
Interesting, maybe that's it. How can it get retested?

as of the time of this post adnxs.com is deemed safe by Norton Safe Web
Norton Safe Web does not offer ratings in "Real Time"

you are the most important anti-malware tool attached to your computer.
So, to recap.
Why should I use this product? No one at Norton can provide information about what they are warning me about? I think it is time for a change to a different product.
Hi schreckmusic,
Norton Safe Web, like all similarly designed site rating services, tests sites for threats and reports what it finds. In this regard it is no different than McAfee SiteAdvisor, WOT or any other similar service. Because a website can change for better or worse in the blink of an eye, you should not interpret any site rating as a definitive indication of any site's present condition - that is beyond the scope of any of these products.
In the case of the site mentioned in this thread, the specific reason for the "Caution" rating is given: There is a link posted there to a malicious site at adnxs.com. Sevenstring.org is not listed as "Warning," meaning that just visiting the site might be inherently dangerous. Rather, it is given a "Caution" designation meaning, if you go there, and you come across a link to adnxs.com, don't click it.
There are some online products that you can use on demand to scan a site in real time. One of these was incorporated into a security product, but the realtime scans created problems both in bandwidth usage and web traffic analysis, and so was discontinued in favor of the blacklist approach. To scan in realtime, you would need to use a standalone program that scans sites one at a time, rather than looking at every site that comes up in a Google search.
Hi SendOfJive,
I completely understand your response. Thank you and bjm for the product knowledge and insight. I guess discussing the actual usefulness of this feature is a different topic. This thread can be closed.
Hi schreckmusic,
We can discuss the usefulness of these services here. Unfortunately, I don't believe any of these web rating services do a good job of letting users know what the ratings really mean and how to properly interpret them. A green checkmark should not be construed as a certification that the site is completely free of malware at the present time, but that is what many users tend to do. Really, a green checkmark means only that the site was safe when tested, and that may have changed for the worse last month, last week, or two minutes ago. So the proper way to evaluate these ratings is to be guided away from sites with the red warnings - we know that there was definitely something malicious at those sites in the past, and there may still be. So completely avoid the sites rated as dangerous, and use common sense for all others. Even such "safe" sites as the New York Times and Kaspersky's download site have been compromised, so always use safe surfing practices, no matter what sites you visit.
