Does Norton 360 3.0 encrypt out going as well as incoming info from my end for OL banking making OL purchases or any other credit card transactions before it reaches a sites SSL ???
And should i change my encryption setting from WEP to WPA or WPA-2 for extra defense ???
BTW I have Windows 7 and Firefox if u need to know
N360 nor NIS2010 nor NAV2010 will encrypt the data going in or out. The encryption is handled by the wireless settings (if you are using wireless) and / or the SSL / VPN protocols. Norton (products that include a two-way firewall; NIS2010 or N360) will scan the network traffic for any phishing or malware type traffic and take appropriate action. But Norton itself does not provide any extra encryption; this would interfere with the transaction receiver on the other end (ie, your bank or online shopping site).
WEP is not terribly secure. If all the devices on your network will support WPA, or better yet, WPA-2, by all means use it. You can generate a 63 random character pre-shared key for your wi-fi network at GRC (use the option for 63 printable ASCII characters) that will make your wireless traffic very secure.
