What is changing?
Support for the Norton Safe Web app for Safari and the associated Safari extension is ending. After the update, the Safari extension will no longer display site safety ratings or provide active protection against phishing and malicious websites in Safari.

This change affects:
- Norton Safe Web app for Safari
- Norton Safe Web Safari extension
This change applies only to Safari on Mac.
Will Norton Safe Web continue to work on other browsers?
Yes. Norton Safe Web will continue to be supported on:
- Google Chrome
- Microsoft Edge
- Mozilla Firefox
This change only affects Safari on Mac.
Why is Norton ending support for Norton Safe Web on Safari?
Norton 360 already includes built-in phishing and web protection for Safari, making the older Norton Safe Web Safari extension unnecessary. In addition, Apple is moving Safari away from the older app extension model, limiting the long-term viability of the current extension experience.
Is Safari still protected?
Yes. Customers with Norton 360 installed and an active subscription will continue to receive web protection in Safari, including protection against phishing and malicious websites.
What happens after the update?
When you open the Norton Safe Web app or select the Norton Safe Web extension icon in Safari, you will see an end-of-support message. The extension will no longer provide active Norton Safe Web protection within Safari.
What should I do?
We recommend the following actions:
- Remove the Norton Safe Web app from your Mac. This will also remove the related Safari extension.
- Ensure Norton 360 is installed.
- Verify that your Norton subscription is active.
