A friend of mine had problems regarding virusses on his laptop.
Symantec security suite has been installed.
He tried removing those virusses himself also by using others viruscheckers (Kaspersky) but didn't succeed.
He asked my help and eventually we managed to get it free of virusses (according to Antivir).
We also removed Symantec Security Suite using removal tools we downloaded from Symantec but ONE file being EPERSIST.DAT cannot be accessed. It's even not possible to change ownership of that file nor using UNLOCKER to remove it.
While booting CHKDSK starts running, finds it needs to repair (step 2 of the process; file table $0 file 59073) but doesn't succeed.
The harddisk itself seems OK as several lowlevel tools didn't find problems (SMART status being perfect).
As i've googled the file EPERSIST.DAT caused problems to quite a number of other people I suspect it is a file treated special by Symantec so I have following questions:
a) is it a 'special' file ?
b) how to remove that file?
