Error 3035,6 Auto-Protect has been turned off

Today I logged on my computer and everything seemed fine. About two hours ago I recieved the error messaged shown below.

 

I have Norton Internet Security 2011 for 3 PCs with 237 days left on my subscription. This has never happened before, and I've never had trouble with my Norton up until now.

I tried running a recommended LiveUpdate and then restarting my computer, but it didn't work. The error message just popped up again five minutes later. I'm not technologically savvy, so my options to fix this are limited to my wonting expertise.

Can someone please tell me (in layman's terms) how I can go about fixing this?
