I am getting the following error message -
Error: "3038,104" appears on my Norton product
when using Quick Scan. It then tries to do a fix but it then comes up with the message.
We are unable to find an automatic fix for this issue etc.

Hi charter,
Try running LiveUpdate manually a few times, rebooting when requested, until it says
"Live Update finished - No updates found
Your Norton product has the latest protection updates"
Then exit all programs and restart the computer.
Please let us know how you get on.
Edit: if that doesn't fix the issue, in posting back please tell us what's your OS and Norton product (presumably N360 since you posted on this board, but please confirm) and version (Support>About).
Hi charter,
If what Rainbow_2 suggested does not work please try the following:
https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/kb20080409124354EN_EndUserProfile_en_us
@Rainbow_2 If memory serves me correctly, charter is on Win 8 and N 360 21.1.1.7.
I guess I could find it in previous charter's thread ... however I'd prefer to have the details mentioned/confirmed in every new thread... just to avoid any misunderstandigs as the user (any user) could have more than one computer with different OS/Norton product?
It happened after a Microsoft Essentials update I did. When this update ended there was nothing about rebooting the computer.
After posting this error I decided to reboot anyway and tried the Quick Scan again and it seems to have cured the problem.
Hope this may also help other forum members should they come across a similar situation.
It also cured the Norton Community Watch problem (for now at least). This was on another thread.
However is has not cured the Indentity Safe Maintenance problem which is still failing to complete.
Thank you for your replies
Hi charter,
Are you referring to Microsoft Security Essentials - the anti-virus protection that runs in real time? That should not even be installed alongside Norton as they could conflict!
No I meant Live Essentials such as Live Mail, Skype, Movie Maker etc.

Understood - that's OK.
Any change in your ID Safe Maintenance?
