Error 3048, 3 tried solutions but none worked

I've tried downloading your IntelligentUpdater and that didn't work so I tried the Power Eraser. Still nothing. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled after running your uninstaller. I'm still getting the error. It is somwhere around a week or so between each time the error pops up. What else can I do?

Does this mess with Norton's ability to detect malware/virus/bad stuff?

I only ran the removal program without uninstalling using Windows. Was I suppose to uninstall from windows and then run the tool?

Hi iamconfused

The process I mentioned does seem to have a better effect and has solved some other people’s problems.  The error you have can also be because of an infection, can you perform a full system scan?  Do you have any other on demand security scanners?

You might like to backup the personal data and you’ll need to backup or export in both formats your identity safe and any other users identity safe if it is used, before performing the uninstall.

Have you or have you ever had any other security software including any trial security software on the computer including Norton?  If so what is it because this needs to be addressed first before doing anything else, please repost if you do have or have had any other security softwareon the computer?

I haven't had any other security software. This only happened after my fresh install of Windows. I've scanned it  and Norton doesn't come up with anything. I also remember there was a scan too with Power Eraser or the program you guys recommended when trying to fix this error. That came up clean too.

Hi iamconfused,

Did you go back and remove and reinstall using the method intesec suggested?

Also - "fresh install of Windows". Was it in fact an install from a CD/DVD or using the recovery partition of you HDD - which would  also install any trial security product that was initially installed on your system.  This is the type of program that would need to be removed (also using the products removal tool after the Control Panel removal).

Update: I did remove and reinstall using the suggestion. And today, the error popped up again. Fresh install was done with a W7 DVD not the recovery partition so I had no trial security on it. Is there any other solutions to try?

How long has this been happening?

Does LiveUpdate usually run without error?

It may just be temporary network or server issues that crop up to give that error.

It’s been happening the past 2 months I’d say, but it’s been around 3 weeks since it has happened. Liveupdate seems to be working.

If it has been working I would go with my suggestion that it is some kind of temporary Update server issue. It can all depend on the exact time of day your system tries to access the servers. If there is some maintenance being done on any system between your computer and the Update server, your system may be unable to access the updates. When the system is back up, you get the updates normally.
