Error 8504,104 plus unable to connect to internet nor uninstall nis

Hi,

When you open Registry Editor is the entry mentionned in my earlier post present or not??

Also, when you type msconfig in the Windows Search box, section Startup, is there any entry related to NU 16??

Thanks.

Regards,

I could not find anything in registry editor (in uninstall) and there is no Norton utilities in startup  but it does appear in Services and says it is running.

Update,

It is in startup, I did not recognize the name.  It's called SSDMonit Application

Hi,

See if there is a file in :

C:\Program Files\symantec\norton utilities 16\smonitor\ssdmonitor.exe

Also, there must be an entry in the registry.

You must delete the Program folders related to NU, delete the service related to NU, delete the registry keys & reboot.

Normally after reboot,  SSDMonit Application should no longer appear in msconfig.

That should remove any remnants of NU 16 from your pc.

Regards,

Yes, there is somthing utilities related in program files under symantec and in sMonitor and in ssdMonit.  Do I just delete these individually from each location?  I still have not found anything in registry but I will look again. thanks

OK, I was looking for Norton named things so I did not see the SSDMonitor in the registry.  It IS there.  Again, do I just delete all of these individually in any order?  In the registry it appears to be a checked or unchecked box rather than being deleted. Right?

Hi,

You mentionned in an earlier post that: Also, in Program files, Norton Utilities is not there.  I am really confused

Later you mention: Yes, there is somthing utilities related in program files under symantec and in sMonitor and in ssdMonit

I have already given suggestion, please read those.
