Error 8504,104 & Runtime Error

In the two days so far I have had a reasonable number of [Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime Library  Program;c\Program Files] come up to say that "This application has requested the Runtime to be terminated in the usual way. Please contact the application support team for more information",  this makes “Norton Internet Security 2012” unresponsive needing to reboot each time.

Also Norton has shown two error messages so far of  “Error 8504,104” and scanned  for the problem the  but could not find one. I went to the Norton site also to what might be there that might help, I tried  the “Norton Power Eraser”, It did a scan and it found  no problems. Have scanned the computer locally several time and there is no unresolved threats. I have updated the latest version of “Java” but still getting these Runtime Errors.

I have Windows 7 and running Windows Internet Explorer 9 browser, the commuter has just got it’s Microsoft updates on Wednesday night so got me a bit baffled to what is happened.

Hello AussieWayne and welcome!

I am sorry to hear of your problem.  Any chance this is a Lenovo machine running RapidBoot?

There is a known issue with this configuration: "We have seen this error appearing with a program called RapidBoot which comes with the Lenovo computers. If you have RapidBoot on your computer, make sure that you download and install the latest version. Contact your computer manufacturer for further assistance. "

Understanding that you have run the NPE, have you tried all the steps in this KB article?

Let us know.

Thanks Phil_D

I probably should have mentioned that I have a HP Pavilion dv6 computer and far as I know there is no RapidBoot on my computer that is listed in programs. Going to post my post here on the Windows Microsoft Answers site too.

Thanks again.

[Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime Library  Program;c\Program Files] come up to say that "This application has requested the Runtime to be terminated in the usual way. Please contact the application support team for more information] In part is wrong [to be terminated it in an unusual way]

Silly me.

Sorry for the trouble. Did you try uninstall/reinstall with Norton Remove & Reinstall tool? If not, try that first:

Let me know how it goes.
