So yesterday my computer couldn't open on startup and had to do an automatic system restore to open. After this I couldn't access the internet through Chrome (said it was unable to access the network), although could through Firefox. I Reinstalled chrome and it now works fine.However I cannot open Norton, it just displays Error 8504 104, then says live update repair failed.
So I followed the instructions on Nortons linked website but it says to download the removal tool and when I try to do this I get the same message I did from chrome, "unable to access the network".
From reading the threads here I am concerned its malware, so followed the instructions from these and have tried restoring the system to a previous time , nothing, run power eraser and found nothing, downloaded malwarebytes free and found nothing (although couldn't update the database, said it couldn't access the server ?) and used msconfig to look for any suspicious startup programmes but couldn't see anything.
I removed all non norton security and checked the graphics drivers as suggested and nothing has allowed norton to start working again, and from the other posts I have a suspicion it could be malware, any help much appreciated !!
Hi! I don´t speak English very well :C so forgive me. It all began when I was trying to download some stuff for my PC (it's new and it came with Norton already installed), but when the download was ready and I try to open it, nothing happened. I thought that the file was wrong, and try to deleted it. When I did that Windows opened a window .-. saying that I can´t remove that file because Norton Internet Security was using it. I didn't understand it, so I try to opened the famous Norton, but it showed me the message with the error 8504 104 that can´t fix and a website so I could find the solution. But the solution for me wouldn't work :C because my first problem was that I can´t open the things I've downloaded. The other solution was to uninstall the program by the program that windows has for that, in the (I don´t know how to translate this) Panel de Control, Add or Remove a program? Maybe. So I did that, but when it was in the 81% of progress it sticks, I can´t close it.
I don´t know what to do, I try restarting, hoping that the uninstall will close, but when the PC was on again it still "running", because it still sticks :c Can anybody help me? I really need the things I've downloaded, but most important, I need to fix my PC, I think that if Norton was not working, in any minute a virus will infect my computer :C So, please help me !
