Additional info.  The reinstall attempt finally unhung and and stated that the install could not complete due to another variant of Norton's being installed ont he computer and asked me to uninstall and restart before installing the "new" version.  I can not uninstall because all uninstall links are dead.

I really do not want to wipe my hard drive to resolve this issue.  It has been many years since I used Nortons and thought I would come back and give them another shot.  I hope that this is not a common issue.

Finally got NAV 2008 installed, however I am not getting a Windows error: Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close.  This is the same error I got during install.  Still could use some help.

Your previous AV could be in the way?

What vendor or version was it?

It was kaperskys for AOL.  The free version.  I dont know the revision info.  I had uninstalled it and restarted before attempting the NAV install.  I performed the exact same provedures to remove Kaperskys and installl NAV 2008 on my desktop 2 days ago and had no issues.  Could I have a virus that is interfering witht he install?

Does the blue screen error continue to appear? If so, any information from this error would be helpful in determining the cause. Perhaps there are some remnants of the Kaspersky product still on your system?
