Error code 3038, 104

Have been having this problem since last December 2013 & have let Notorn take control of my pc & do re installs. Made no difference, 3 days later the same problem , error 3038, 104. Have done all norton have suggested via live chats & phone calls.

After doing the check on the hard disk as instructed by a norton person my PC crashed & had to do a full restore back to factory settings. Took all weekend to get everything back to almost where it was before the crash.

Questions,

1/ what is error code 3038, 104?

2/ what else can I try?

Well I tried the NRT & re installed 360 and guess what???

Just 1 day later the error code 3038, 104 returned.

What have I got to do to get my PC back to where it was, no issues.

See from the logs on here others are having similar issues.

I see nothing in my suggestion that asks for you to run the NRT and reinstall.  I thought you said Norton Support already did that with the same results.

The Norton KB does not suggest a reinstall, but rather changing permissions and updating virus defs - things not associated with a reinstall and things that a reinstall may not correct.

Having had several options by various people on this forum, am now trying the suggestion made above & will get back once it is done. Have to say the help has been good & has helped to understand the issue.

Below is the lnk that Norton supplies for this error code:

https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v63797269_EndUserProfile_en_us

If that does not hep, please try the What if this didn't work? at the bottom of the above page:

https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/kb20080409124354EN_EndUserProfile_en_us

Probably a non-player, but please verify your system clock has the correct date and time and time zone.

Giving the above a go now.

Well gave it a try & I am no better off, now scans do not run & no error code is reported.

Have also installed/applied a new renewal code.

So what is left to try or is it a case of trying another companies software or even Windows firewall & Defender?

Hi, Neil. Given that what you've done has eliminated the error codes, it may may be worthwhile trying the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool again, to make sure the copy you have is not corruped in other ways.

As always, run Live Update after, until no more are found. Also a reboot after may help, too

Let us know if that works. If not, we may be able to get someone else from Symantec to look at your problem.
