Error codes 8504, 104

Was just surfing the web as i usually would, then shut down the system, started up a couple of hours later and i can do nothing with norton whatsoever, it just takes me to 'one click support' when i try to open the program and gives the error codes; 8504, 104, my internet still works but my use with other things is limited; i cant shut down the system or restart it, i can still click on the tabs and the press is visible but i just get nothing, the only thing that will work is putting the system to sleep using a hotkey. Ive used norton for a couple of months now and this is the only major issue ive had, if theres a problem id try to fix it myself but i have no idea what those error codes are or what has happened to my system

Do you have any other antivirus program? if you have installed another one, kindly remove it because two security software might conflict with each other.

That easiest fix for this would be to uninstall and install the last build. To do this:

1) Make sure you have your product key.

2) Go to Safe Mode With Networking (SMWN) since you have limited capabilities in normal mode. SMWN is a diagnostic startup mode of your operating system, meaning it will load up only the native drives and settings of your system pretty much like the way when you first used it, which also means Norton and other programs you installed after will not be loaded. Do it by tapping on F5 the moment your computer starts. This will give you the advanced boot options. Select SMWN.

3) Download the Norton Removal Tool at www.norton.com/nrt. Run the tool and restart the computer when prompted.

4) Check your computer after the reboot. If the problem with your other software persists, then something's wrong with your operating system. In this case, consider your Norton as just one of the softwares installed in your system. If the system has its own problems, then any antivirus, which is only a preventive measure and not a 100% foolproof mechanism againsts threats and the normal breakdown of computers, won't fix this. If it is only the Norton that you can't open, then expect your operating system to load without problem and for everything to run perfectly.

5) Normally, a new web page will automatically open up after running the removal tool. But nothing comes up, go to www.norton.com/nuc, search for your product's family name and then download the latest version. It wouldn't matter what year you bought your product key as long as it have valid subscription so basically, everyone's entitled to an upgrade.

6) Run liveupdate.

7) Restart and check.

I hope this helped. Have fun tinkering with your computer!
