Due to a different problem, I had to restore my brand new machine, wiping out everything including Norton 360.
I downloaded the installer, and it begins to run but then stops with the "error has occurred" message. The Norton Power Eraser did not find anything. I've downloaded the installer at least three times, same problem each time.
Could not find anything in the forum posts that directly deals with my problem. .
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Norton 360 with LifeLock Select
Edition Windows 10 Home
Version 20H2
Installed on 11/28/2020
OS build 19042.685
Serial number MJ0DFXXD
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0
It took three different failures on three different machines, but I eventually I traced the problem to my printer. Machine 1, after being upgraded from Windows 7 to 10, refused to boot past the Windows logo until I unhooked every USB device and added them back in one by one, but that didn't point out what was the problem. Brand new Machine 2 with Windows 10 already, ran fine for a few weeks, then suddenly the Blue Screen of Death. Tech guy had to reinstall everything. Brand new Machine 3 (this one) was running great until the very last thing I did was connect that same printer, and poof! BSD again. I discovered the printer firmware needed to be updated, which was a challenge since I didn't want to risk yet another machine. I again had to reinstall the OS on this current machine, which I did using a boot disk I had luckily created using Macrium Home while installing a larger SSD.
Unfortunately I had not yet made a back up of this machine so I have lost a lot, including emails. I am hoping that the most recent backup I made with Norton will help me recover some of those emails and settings, but I if I can't even get it to install, I am out of luck.
This all might sound like I know what I'm doing, but I don't.
What was the original issue you had that made you reset everything? And did you just use the manufacturer's reset process to reinstall Windows?
Sorry for the delay, been out of town and only just got a chance to run the extraction tool...which did fine.
Tried running the Norton install again, and got this error message:
If you still see the error message after running MCPR, please post a screenshot of that error.

See this information from McAfee Support. Scroll down to the Method 2 solution to use the McAfee Consumer Product Removal tool (MCPR)
Is there any other information given in the error message?
It had McAfee on it, but I deleted that before I started trying to load N360. There isn't anything left in my apps page...could there be something lurking elsewhere?
How did you restore your system? If you used a manufacturer's restore feature, be sure there is no security product included. Even a trial version could be causing your issues. Be sure to use the uninstall utility for that software.
