Error in updating Norton 360 Backup

I always get an error updating my 360 backup on a secondary Hard Drive (Windows 8). Once an error is initiated, back ups & self repair will no longer work. Norton tech help, after remotely manipulating my computer, could not resolve this issue. I turned off the 360 Back Up feature, but I am denied access in deleting 2 sets of backups on my secondary hard drive taking up a ton of space.. Do I need to delete everything Norton to get rid of the back ups?
