Error Message 3005,100 on Norton 360. Can I reinstall Norton Utilities 14?

I received an Error Message 3005,100 when using Norton 360.  I was prompted that the only way to fix the problem was to uninstall and reinstall Norton, which I did.  It automatically reinstalled after I restarted.  Problem is, I also had Norton Utilities 14 which I also had to uninstall but don't know how to reinstall.

Hi Dave,

Thanks.  That worked fine....Didn't even need the Product Key.

That's good to hear Jackie.  You might want to make sure your fresh copy is activated.  Otherwise in two weeks you might be back.

Just in case you run into any problems,  Customer Support can help with activation issues.  You can reach them at http://www.norton.com/chat.  Live Chat is usually the quickest.

Thanks for letting us know.

Dave.

Thanks Dave,

Not sure if I should address this to you or start again with Live Chat, but just a few questions.  After I reinstalled yesterday I was able to access Norton Utilities but now I can't.  I never paid for it...it came free with my Internet Security & it never expired.  I originally got it in 2009 & have now found the original disc.

My question is: should I uninstall again?  Yesterday I accidently exited the workflow before finishing, so don't know whether I would have got an opportunity to enter the Product Key.  Perhaps if I start again, it will be OK.

Or should I use the original disc?

Or should it have expired after the 1st year?

Maybe it is not meant to be still there after 3 years.

Regards, Jackie

Hi flowers99,

Insert your CD and see if there is a separate install listed for Norton Utilities.  If so - you should be able to install it from there.

Jackie,

Norton Utilities isn't a subscription like NIS and N360.  It's yours to use as you like,  but unlike NIS and N360 you can't upgrade it to the latest version for free,  which is NU15.

If you open NU does it say something like 14 days remaining on the main UI?  It's been a while since I've seen NU14,  but I think it should say Activate Now at the top if your activation failed.

As I mention before,  if you have problems with activation Customer Support can help.

Dave

Thanks Yank

Thanks Dave.  I am able to open it now & there is no prompt about activating or 14 days remaining, so I will wait & see.  If it disappears I will use the disc to reinstall.
