I did an update last evening before bed. I looks like it did 5 updates but bombed out after doing so. My product seems to be running (icon in my tray) but when I try to do a basic scan (as I did last night) I am getting an error message and it does not run. I alreayd ran Autofix twice and rebooted each time and still nothing. What's going on? What's the solution?
I am still getting an "Error on Scan" msg everytime I run the basic scan. I have updated Norton several times since my first report this morning, rebooted and run the scan again with the same result. I there something going on with Norton or should I be doing something else? Thanks..
Hi allenhomer,
Please tell us which Norton product you are using and which version (Support > About). It may hep to include the operatng system and browser of choce. aslo please tell us what you are calling a "basic scan"? Full SystemScan, Quick scan. Exact wording of error would be helpful, as well as telling us which type of update you ran? LiveUpdate, version upgrade or what?
Norton 360, v 20.4.0.40
I'm using Win 8.0 and, mostly, Firefox (v 25.0) but I have IE and Chrome although I don't use them daily.
Sorry about the definition, more accurately, I was trying to do the Quick Scan and just got an red ERROR msg in the upper left corner of the Quick Scan screen and nothing to copy and past to you as to the nature of it.
On a happy note, as I write this to see the Error Msg more accurately, Quick Scan now seems to be running fine. There were a bunch of updates that occurred since last night perhaps these solved my problem.
Anyway -- problem solved & we're off to new adventures in computing!
Thanks and this can be closed.
Hi allenhorner,
Thanks for the feedback, it may help some others if they run into a similar situation. I have to wonder if the reboot did not do the trick??
