[edit: Clarified subject.]

Hi edwardip:

Please hang on until you get moved to a thread of your own, and then we will try to figure out what the problem could be.

Which part of the step are you glitching? Can you visit ftp://ftp.microsoft.com uses FTP protocalls, the same that Norton Removal Tool download use.

HI edwardip,

Welcome to the Norton Community. Can you tell us more information about the problem you are having and for which you want to download the removal tool?

Which Norton product do you have and the exact version from Support > About? Also what OS and SP do you have and is it 32 or 64 bit?

Which link are you using for the removal tool? It should be:

http://www.symantec.com/symnrt

But before you download and run this please let us know more about the problem you are having. Also a conventional uninstall through Control panel is advised before running the removal tool.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.

Allen

@Allen I would use the link http://www.norton.com/nrt because the link you gave initially comes up as "KB Article not found" and then redirects to the correct page.

The link that AllenM uses provides appropriate warnings to the user, and suggestions that might make his life a little easier.  I would caution the user, however, not to run the suggested Norton Power Eraser at the bottom of the page, without a better idea of what the problem is.  I'm not sure why that would have been added to the Norton Removal Tool page, as it has nothing to do with removing the product, and in certain circumstances should not be used.

THe page Allen uses "double redirects." Both /nrt and /symnrt end up to the same page.

And this is so important why? The link I gave is the one which Symantec has requested we use in the past as always being the one which will be kept up to date and point to the latest removal tool.

I think the link http://www.norton.com/symnrt is the most appropriate though. Note the use of "symnrt" and not just "nrt". As you know Norton and Symantec are synonymous anyway. :smileywink:

Oh ok. I tend to give out the /nrt link because its shorter and easier to remember.

Hi Tywin7,

No problem. :smileyhappy: Sometimes the redirects are OK. symnrt ensures that it ultimately links to the correct and latest version of the removal tool.

Allen

Actually BOTH links redirects to the latest version.

I realize that. This is true today but I'm not sure about next week, next month or next year. It is no big deal, I just passed on what I've been told by Symantec before that the "symnrt" link is the one which should be guaranteed to be updated over time.

BTW, are you done changing your Avatar? :smileytongue:

Best wishes.

Allen

Yes this is my final "Thanksgiving avatar".
