My husband has Norton Internet Security version 16.1.0.33. Windows XP Home, Version 2002, with service pack 3. He has no other antivirus, spyware or security programs running as far as we know. We’ve made several clean installs after uninstalling NIS. The new installation is by using NIN09EN.exe. The problem is on my husband's computer, not mine (I still have NIS 2008). He keeps getting the pop up "your anti spyware definitions are out of date. your system may be more vulnerable to viruses and intrusions." And there is a red X over the Norton icon on the task bar. I assume this means he is not getting virus protection. When we open the program, it says "at risk.. fix now" Fix Now causes live update to run but the "at risk.. fix now" remains. The problem is fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling the program, but before long the above issues return. We've been through this scenario 4 or 5 times this year. It's time to renew our subscription. I'm thinking maybe we should change to another antivirus program. Do you think that is a wise decision? Or is there something we can do to remedy the situation? We've tried Symantec Live Chat several times. Each time they uninstall and reinstall the program. As I mentioned, it helps for a while and then the popup comes back. Any help much appreciated.
