Error: "Unable to open this norton product..."(8504,4)

I upgraded to NIS 2009 from NIS2008, The setup uninstalled the 2008 version automatically.

 

Rebooted after the uninstall.

Installed 2009 but after "Launching your product" (something like that) prompt there was nothing. I was expecting a thankyou message and activation but nothing at all. When click on the desktop icon one click support launces after a while and this message appears in a window where I cannot even copy the message.

 

System config:

P4, 1GB Ram. 500GB HD, XP SP3

No other active program for AV/Spyware.

No other Symantec app. 

 

I have done the following procedure a million times and will not do it again even once because I am fed up and will install another AV if recommended.

Uninstalled the NIS2009 through Add Remove Programs

Restart

Norton removal tool

I have removed the whole thing using the removal tool as well but no luck.

Restart.

Delete all symantec from program files, common files, All Users\Subfolders\norton and symatec related.

Delete all from my Doc&Settings folders\subfolders symantec and norton etc

Deleted all reg keys from HKEY_LM, HKEY_CU etc.

Restart and installed NIS2009

Same thing again.

After installation it installs drivers, starts services, Attempting to launch and then Nothing not tray icon noting at all.

Just silence.

 

I have checked the whole pc for any virus\spyware\malware with a lot of different programs (uninstalled afterwards and rebooted)

found nothing at all.

 

System startup is ok, everything runs smooth NIS 2008 was fine all updated. Other free scanners all work ok.

System resources all ok nothing being exhausted at the time.
