Norton From Comcast latest version Error We have detected an issue with your Norton Module:3039, Error:69638
Also in my norton dashboard is says Your pc is not protected by SONAR protection. i click fix and nothing happens...
im on windows 7 64 bit
already ran norton removal tool about 5 times and did fresh installs and after it finishes doing its Annoying **bleep** process of updating and then asking to Restart 10 times "Which is so ridiculous" why cant you make 1 update instead of so many that need to restart!! as of right now im not a happy customer!!!!!!!!!
Is this a new install of a new version? If so how was the old version removed? If there was no old version then I'd recommend you do a control panel uninstall, reboot and reinstall the program. If none of this helps please come back and let us know so we can try again.
Ignore the next message. Mr Murphy was busy again.
The reason to run the Manual Liveupdate at the end of the instructions is because the version of NSS that is downloaded is not the most recent version, nor are the definitions up to date. You must run the Liveupdate until it returns no more updates available and reboot as often as required in order to get your program up to date.
Also ensure you obtain a fresh download of NSS, using the Get It Now button (if a popup asking about CGPS occurs, please click No Thanks and you'll be able to see the Gwet It Now buton which wil afford you a freash download (rather than using one you have saved on your system - if that is what you have been doing.
finally got the problem solved after i contacted support via norton chat and requested a manager and he went into my pc through windows safe mode and spent about 45 minutes manually removing norton and with some registry tool manually removing every registry entry norton had left. he then instructed me to restart and install the pc in safemode with networking redownload norton and install again and then run all the updates " which is a super pain in the **bleep** running live update then RESTARTing like 8 times in a row.. why they cant release an all in one update pack beats me... but this turned into about a 12 hour project to finalyl get it working...
Before the manager who fixed the issue above i spent hours where i had 2 seperate techs on norton chat try to remove it remotely with the norton removal tool rebooting and doing all updates and once they got to the last update it would popup with the failure to protect sonar.. this was one hell of a headache !!
also they dont want me to have any other programs installed
i had
superantispyware
malwarebytes
spybot
ad-aware
advnaced systemcare
ccleaner
they removed all of those because they told me that there software is all i need, even tho in the past i have found infections with malwarebytes and ad-aware that even norton didnt detect.
i had norton for years and deceided to try kaspersky as a friend told me it was better, but kaspersky ended up making alot of websites and programs i use no longer open at all so i removed kaspersky and went back to norton.. and yes i know what im doing i repair computers for a living an fix systems infected with 100s of infections on a daily basis and i have a+ certs and a few other certs so its not like im completely stupid when it comes to fixing pcs... etc. lol
