Eureka!

How do I know if I have the latest patch? If it’s 16.1.0.33 then I don’t think it fixed my issue with Pulse updates. They are still off and on. I will let you know!

hello tolbiny. can you give me the link where to download the patch? My live update is not working. I have a good internet connection but my live update tells me that Im not connected. please help.

Hi Huwyngr

Might be a dumb question, did you have problems with Web Protection Defs failing?Maybe they are fixing those first  just a thought.I did a manual update and the web defs installed perfectly, seemed a bit faster but that might be wishfull thinking :smileyvery-happy:

Thjey can’t send the updates to everyone at the same time. Please be patient and wait a day or two. It will surely come to your machine as well

May I add my opinion on this thread.

It will save us a lot of typing & waiting if SYMANTEC can state in their Website on the latest build updates.

Nothing is stated in the website, I even downloaded a trial version of NIS2009 and re-installed it, but it still say version 16.0125.

I am PUZZLED!!!!

Stu - an honest inquiry about your assertion that we must more or less "wait in line" for updates - would this then apply as well to the "up to the minute" virus definitions and such? Are they really sometimes days old by the time that they get around to everyone?

I realize the update fix is a slightly larger file...but it's not like it's 300MB.

Perhaps updates goes by SENIORITY.  Those who are more senior gets the updates.

BTW, do you realized that there aren't any response from Mr Weiss and company regarding the updates.

Have you wonder why?????

I get this mental image of a bunch of people sitting around a table addressing envelopes as fast as they can.

A day or two?  Are electrons moving slower these days?

That's what my wife told me when I got the update and she and my son didn't.  I think her exact words were "you're so old they had to get it to you right away, just in case ... well, you know."

It seems to me that it checks the version of the file engine.dll in the Norton Installer folder (my path> C:\Program Files\NortonInstaller\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7}\NIS\562C4DD5\16.0.0.125 )

My version is 5.0.0.218 and I didn't get the update. The version it seems to look for is 5.1.0.24.

I don't really understand what we are supposed to do then. I have the 5.0.0.218 version as well. I would have thought that the version would update when we got the patch thru liveupdate.

I'm not aware of any recent problems with updates of any kind on my NIS2009 on XP Pro.

That's why I am not concerned that my version number has not changed; merely curious.

I can say with complete certainty that that is not the explanation -- I am on 125 ...... (not years BTW ..... yet)

Having been around here since almost the beginning I would suggest that it is highly likely they are doing something productive. If there is a situation, they are more likely to be fixing it than answering questions. That's part of the reason they recruited volunteers to help with messages. When they have something specific to say, they will judging by past performance.

Forum members may have no idea how these Men in Red work. They all have regular jobs within Symantec running QA, development and so on and in addition work both "in and out of hours" on Forum matters.

I happen to have first hand evidence, for example, of messaging a moderator about a problem in a thread and hearing back from him that as he had seen my message he was in fact on his cell phone from his car to the person you name to bring him onto the matter. [No I don't think he was driving and scanning his laptop for messages].

These people deserve respect as do Symantec for opening the doors the way they have to communication between users and themselves. I wish there were more places where "so much is done for so many by so few" to paraphrase Winston Churchill.

LOL! Let's hope they're not messing with the electrons!

I haven't seen any Symantec employees online since last night. I don't know...perhaps they all have a day off here in U.S. - as it's a national holiday.

Amen, huwyngr, amen.

I doubt it!

I was answering a message from a moderator in which he made a reference to "out of office hours" so I replied "they don't have office hours ...." He laughed and agreed saying "I logged off the forum at 0100 hours and back on again at 0700 ...."

I did get the updates yesterday and I can say that the problem with the anti-phishing defs seems to be fixed. I can definitely say that they apply much faster, 8-10 seconds now as opposed to 50 seconds before. That was the only problem I was having so I can’t comment on what else was fixed.

eh...I was just searching for some logical answer for the silence on this issue. :smileywink:

I see that they are around and posting now.
