Even though I have no virus protection on my computer, I'm unable to download the Norton file because it tells me download failed because virus scan failed

I cannot download antivirus software, get a message “cannot download, virus scan failed”, but I have uninstalled all previous antivrus programs. Please help! Thanks

Hello KellD. What is your OS, version and build of Windows? Are you logging into Windows with an account that has admin privileges? That is required to install Norton.

  • What previous antivirus software did you have installed? There may be uninstallers that need to be ran to remove remnants that may still be active.
  • Have you had a notification that there is an infection on the computer that you are trying to remove with Norton?
  • Run a full scan with Malwarebytes to see what it finds.
