Exceeded The number of allowable Attempts to verify the security code

I keep getting the following message using Two-Factor Authentication on the primary number.

"You have exceeded the number of allowable attempts to verify the security code.  Please try again later.

You can also try removing that phone from the 2FA setup, then add it again. 

Can you change the 2FA code delivery to an email address and test? Please review this article:

Yes, the number is my number.  No, the code does not arrive.  I use the backup number to complete the Two-Factor authentication.
