Exclude Singlefile?

Hi,

is there any Option in NIS 2009 to exclude single Files from Scanning?

Single files are selectable in the ‘Scan Exclusions / Add Item’ requestor even though it does look like a folder only select requestor and has the misleading label ‘Select a Directory’. At least the window title is ‘Browse for FIles or Folders’.

Symantec must’ve cut their QA budget.

Hi redlabour,

You can exclude the files/folder from Scanning only if you are sure about the authenticity of that file/folder. Excluding malicious files may affect the protection of your computer. If you want to completely exclude a file/folder, then you have to add that file under the exclusion list for both Auto-Protect and Manual Scan. You can follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Start Norton 2009 program.
2. In the Computer pane, click Settings.
3. Under Exclusion/Low Risks, click Configure next to Scan Exclusions.
4. Under Scan Exclusions, click Add.
5. Browse and select the folder or file you would like to exclude and click OK. If you want to include subfolders within the folder, check Include Subfolders.
6. Under Auto-Protect Exclusions, click Add.
7. Browse and select the folder or file you would like to exclude and click OK. If you want to include subfolders within the folder, check Include Subfolders.
8. Click Apply > OK.
