Having trouble exporting files from my bank using all export file formats, I mostly use microsoft ofx.
I don't know what application you are exporting from or to but it does not sound to me like a Norton product which is what this place is all about!
Tell us and then perhaps we can help or redirect you. Say what version of WIndows you are using.
PS I know from bitter experience that INTUIT Quickens do not handle a widely used file format that many banks use, including mine in the UK.
I did hook up with my bank to export checking acct. data. I think I disabled phishing breifly and was able to export to Money (2004)
Isuspect some fire wall problem also.

OK I understand better now. Since you have posted under Norton Internet Security I assume that is what you are using? Please confirm and give the version -- 2007? 2008? -- and whether you keep it updated. If it's NIS 2008 then there has been a major update recently and I'm not certain it comes down automatically in LiveUpdate -- check Help & Support / About and give the version on the NIS TAB there. You don't have to wait while that progress bar wiggles -- just click on About and then on that NIS tab.
I'll leave the general question of firewalls/phishing to others who know more about it than I do but if it should be you can to where you want to be allowed to go to into, or unblock destinations that may have been blocked inadvertently.
What I want to ask is if you are sure that it is the Norton product that stops you from downloading the information you want and not the bank site itself?
I ask that because the bank in the US that I deal with on-line has introduced an access protection where when you start to log in you do not enter both your ID and your password but just your ID (and you can even set it to remember that if you feel it is safe) and it takes you to a second page which they call Site Key that asks if you recognize an image that you agreed to when initially setting up and if you do to enter your password. That works fine for manual logging on but when I use Quicken and tell it to go collect the information it does not get past the SiteKey -- no problems with credit card sites because Quicken does not have to recognize an image!
I imagine this could be the same with Money if you are trying to "pull down" data from the bank to your computer.
I get round this by manually logging on to my bank and clicking on a download button they have on the web page. This then asks you to select the format of the files and they mention Quicken, Money and other formats. I select Quuicken and tell it to go ahead. Windows then asks me if I want to Run the file or Save it. I choose Run and then it goes into the Quicken database where it belongs; or you could choose Save, not where it saves to and when complete log off the bank and Import that file whenever you want.
With my UK Bank the problem is the internal structure of the data file is slightly different to that which Quicken US uses (And it is the US that is out of step <G>). However Money will import this UK file ..... I mentioned this earlier in case you were using Quicken.
I suggest you explore this aspect before deciding that it is something in NIS or elsewhere in your security, on the assumption that you can log onto your bank manually through your browser.
See how that goes and if that is not the answer give us the details including any error messages or other clues together with the full version of your Norton product and the version of Windows you are using including Service Packs.
