External Drive Scan does not appear to be working - NAV 12

Just upgraded to version 12 and the External Drive Scanning function does not appear to be functioning. Any clues on how to make this work? At the suggestion of Support I have re-installed but same results.

This takes care of one of the reasons - and perhaps both! There was no progress bar that opened with the drive was inserted and I was immediately able to eject the drive which I wouldn't be able to do if the Norton was accessing. There is, however, no indication in "View History" that anything is being done on the Virus scanning side. Should I be seeing something there?

Since the scans are done on a per file basis, the History would be a little hard to sift through if every uninfected file was shown, so it's normal that you won't see any indication there (unless infected).  You are correctly pointing out that it is somewhat hard to know if it is functioning, short of getting a dummy virus and testing it that way.  Perhaps in the future we could add some kind of general scan indicator to History, along the lines of "Files scanned on external drive xxxx".

Thanks for the feedback, we will give this some thought for a future revision.

Lee,

Are the external drive files also checked during an idle-time scan?

It depends on the preference setting for idle-time scans.  By default, it only scans the startup drive, but there is an option to scan all drives.

Lee - Thank you for your follow up. Perhaps a note describing the new method could be added to the Read Me doc so that users familiar with the actions of previous versions don't feel that the product is not working.
