Issue abstract: I turn on my computer, I start the Edge browser, I click on the icon of the Norton Password Manager in the toolbar, it can take up to two minutes for the Norton Password Manager drop-down menu to appear.

Detailed description: when I click the Norton Password Manager icon in the Edge’s toolbar, it is extremely slow. Nothing happens, and I have to click the icon many times for the drop-down menu to appear. It can take up to two minutes for the drop-down menu to appear. This happens the first time I turn on the computer and Edge; after that it is fine…until the next time I turn the computer and Edge on. The same extension works fine on Google Chrome; it is just slow in Edge.

Product & version number: Norton password manager 8.2.4.969 installed under Edge Version 142.0.3595.90 (Official build) (64-bit).

OS details: Microsoft Windows 11 Enterprise

Edge and Chrome being on the same code base, the extensions are very similar. As your Chrome extension seems to work well, try removing the extension in Edge. Then restart your computer before reinstalling the extension and test.

Thanks, but I’ve already tried that and it has been no use.

Do you have any other extensions in Edge that you do not have in Chrome that might be fighting for resources as you open Edge? You can try disabling your other Edge extensions one at a time and test.

Edit

Are your home pages different in Edge and Chrome? If your home page is loading lots of varied content, that could bog down the browser during the startup.
