HI Meater,
Welcome to the Norton Community.
Unfortunately I am not aware of any change regarding the availability of the facebook scan. I will attempt to double check with Symantec and see if there is anything new I can report on.
Best wishes.
Allen
FYI, Facebook Scan is an app (like Farmville/Mafia Wars, etc) on Facebook. It does not require a valid subscription or a Norton program present: http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=310877173418
Hi Tywin7,
I'm not sure how this ties in with the post from a Symantec employee showing that currently this option is only available in the English version.

Perhaps this just relates to the direct tie in from within the NIS application. I'm waiting for clarification from Symantec.
Best wishes.

I think I'm contradicting the Symantec employee's statement. Cause I was using the NSW app on Facebook WITHOUT the installation of NIS11 beta (Both NSW and Norton Safe Web was in beta at that time). Later, I noted that NSW on Facebook went out of beta and included new features such as autoscan links. I still didn't install the then already released NIS11 yet. I think NSW Facebook is independent of the software and there is no way they can detect whats on your computer cause it didn't install any addon.
Edit: I was able to run NSW facebook from a library (McAfee) and my Sony Ericsson K800i cellphone (Java based OS).
The NSW app on facebook is like any other game there. I'm sure you all know mafia wars, Farmville, Fishville, Vampire Wars, etc.
Hi Tywin7,
Understood, which is the more reason it needs to be clarified.
Best wishes.

No response from Symantec yet?
Hi
I have just found it in NIS2011...any one using it? and if they are how do you find it?
Tywin7,
No response as of yet.
Mo, if you have the English/US version click on Scan Now then Scan Facebook Wall.
Best wishes.

I meant is that the app can be used on facebook even though you don’t have nis11 or other Symantec product. This contradicts the Symantec employee’s statement.

Hi Tywin7,
I understood what you meant to start with but I want clarification from Symantec. For sure the option under Scan Now in the NIS 2011 interface won't be there except for the English version. The rest I cannot comment on at this time.
Best wishes.

I also knew what you ment. Was just commenting on the last reply before yours. I was bumping up the thread for Symantec’s attention. I’ve added the phrase Symantec employee please respond to the topic of my reply.
Just checked. App ran from mobile. Apparently not connected to the Norton program.
All,
Sorry for the confusion. Obviously a lot has changed since the Beta, so using that as a reference may not reflect the most up-to-date information.
The Facebook scanner link on the Scan Now page is only available on the English builds when using an English OS. You can use the Facebook scanner manually on any language as an unsupported workaround. However, it's currently only officially supported in English. This means that you may only see the posts in English, some sites may not be rated, or other unexpected issues do to language may occur.
The Facebook Scanner is not actually tied to the product, and can be used by anyone with a Facebook account.
Hope this eases any confusion.
