In Norton 360, enabling email protection completely blocks the sending and receiving of all emails. Disabling this setting allows email to function normally.

Do you have the VPN function enabled when this happens?
You can still leave the email protection turned off. The other layers of protection in your Norton 360 will still protect you from anything that might try to get onto your system.
