So this evening, Norton on all three of my computers tells me that the hosts file is malware. I check the file and it reads fine, though I read gen-webserver.local www.gen-webserver.local # gen digital helper server and redirector.gen-webserver.local www.redirector.gen-webserver.local # gen digital helper server at the bottom.
The file is located in Systemn 32/Drivers/Etc
I believe it is a false positive. It quarantines the file and if you restart the computer it clears all text you normally read about the hosts file save for the gen-webserver.local www.gen-webserver.local # gen digital helper server and redirector.gen-webserver.local www.redirector.gen-webserver.local # gen digital helper server at the bottom.
As an aside, I only use ublock origin lite as an extension if its related.
Please tell me others who have norton see the gen-webserver urls too
