Fantastic assistance from these Boards

:smileyhappy:

Yesterday, I downloaded what I expected to be the latest version of Adobe Reader, version 9.13.

On checking, with the program, for updates, I was given an option of a language capability, which I accepted and installed.

Checking today, I was told there were no further updates available.

I then went to this Board and noticed a post about this subject.  A second check with Adobe Help produced a similar result to the first.

I then went to the Adobe site, http://www.adobe.com/products/  and they also advise downloading Version 9.2 for all Windows applications.  As I'm using Windows 7 I uninstalled version 9.13 and downloaded and installed version 9.2.

There is a serious security issue with the previous version but where would I have found out about it, if not for this site?

The reason I was without Adobe Reader was that I reformatted my C Drive a few days ago, having had a disk failure following installing a Motorola program.

I happened to read, recently, about an option with NIS 2010, which I am very happily using, whereby we are able to save our Norton Safe Data to a chosen file anywhere on the Hard Drive and recover it at will.  When I had the disk failure I lost everything on the C section but my data was saved on a different partition and was therefore safe, as was my sign-in info.  This saved me a considerable amount of trouble and, indeed, anxiety.

Therefore, again I am so grateful to Norton and to all the kind people who respond so quickly to our queries and also post such useful information to make our computer experience  so much easier and more enjoyable.

Thank you all,

drshlomo.
