Feeling dumb,- Noron from comcast - are the version numbers the same as regular versions

Hi,

I have this below - what is the comprable  version discussed on the boards.

Product Name: Norton Security Suite
Version: 5.1.0.29
Media SKU: 21164128
Current SKU: 21164128
Family SKU: 0000000
End Point ID: {b3b4f35d-16b7-11df-947b-00038a000015}
Vendor Name: Comcast

Hi Timmy2,

Welcome!!!

The version number of Norton Security Suite or Norton Business Suite will be similar to the regular Norton 360 version. The latest version of Norton 360 is also 5.1.

Thanks,

HarryP

Timmy2,

The current version number for NSS and N360 will be the same with the exception of a time lag between major upgrades.

For example the current version starts with a 5 when N360 is upgraded to version 6, NSS will not be upgraded until a month or two after the version 6 comes out for N360.  NSS always lags a few months behind getting the version upgrades.  However normally the minor updates ( ie 5.0 to 5.1) normally occur at the same time.

Your 5.1.0.29 is the most current version of NSS and will also be the most current version for Norton 360.

Hi Harry,

Riddle me this - I just re-downloaded it from the xfinity.

It looks like I went down a version

Product Name: Norton Security Suite
Version: 5.0.0.125
Media SKU: 21164128
Current SKU: 21164128
Family SKU: 0000000
End Point ID: {b3b4f35d-16b7-11df-947b-00038a000015}
Vendor Name: Comcast

Hello Timmy

Please go to the Comcast site and download your security program from them since they are the providers of your security program. It also looks like you haven''t run live update to get all your updates after you did that update or reinstall. Thanks.

Run live update. Perhaps a patch only available via LiveUpdate pushed the number up a version.

floplot is correct about downloading from Comcast - but apparently he does not know about the Xfinity branding being used by Comcast.

Why not take a trip over to the Comcast Forums and have a look at the first three choices in the Norton Security Suite FAQ's:

http://forums.comcast.com/t5/Security-and-Anti-Virus/Norton-Security-Suite-FAQ-s/m-p/870723/message-uid/870723#U870723

This will provide you with instructions for different situations in regards to installing NSS and also removing, running NRT (in some cases, if required) and reinstalling NSS.

In all cases the following instruction is present:

Once installation is complete, open NSS and manually Run LiveUpdate (located on drop-down under PC Security on left side of main page of NSS) as many times as necessary for it to respond "no more updates available". If a reboot is requested, reboot and then continue to Run LiveUpdate until it responds "no more updates available" and then reboot one last time. Your installation should now be up to date definition wise and ready for use.

What you are seing with version 5.0.0.125 is the "base downlaod" (available from Xfinity/Comcast) and by following the instructions above will bring you back to the 5.1.0.29 version.

In order to avoid confusion, I will add that I go by USAF_E-8_RET on the Comcast Forum.
