File Backup Data Directory

I use a network drive for my backups, and after a firmware update, the ip address changed, disallowing access to the backup (file, not image) sets -- all of the files in the FIle Backup Data Directory became inaccessible via Norton GHost due to the address change. Since there were a lot of files there, using al lot of space, I want to get rid of the files -- but they are not accessible to either delete, rmdir, or attrib commands. I have renamed the director, and created a new FIle Backup Data directory, but still can't free up the old space.

What can I do to delete the files in what is now called File Backup Data Old (what I renamed the original directory to)?
