So, I am unable to share files, or even ping some hosts, on my local network. I have originally thought it was a Win10 issue, but now I am not sure. Does anyone have a COMPLETE set of steps of what to do in Norton to enable File Sharing and Network Discovery ? I have the Public Network Exceptions set for Network Discovery and File and Printer Sharing, but it did not help. The fact that ping does not work is what really confuses me.

The information was helpful. I changed my network configuration and did what the article said. That, along with the changes I made in Norton seemed to have alleviated the problem. The whole thing was pretty painful, as there are a lot of moving parts. I've got almost 50 years in the computer industry, and if I found it difficult I don't see how a layman would ever be able to get it working. Thanks.

Hello Alice. Have a look at this Microsoft article as it discusses common questions related to your issue. The latest versions of Windows 10 have SMB ( Server Message Block ) 1.0 disabled by default. This article although from 2018 may help as well.
