Final product suggestion

Right, so leaving Norton was bittersweet:

bitter, because the uninstall tool seems to have a buggy download (for such a small file, it took several tries to get an uncorrupted download), and because running the tool rewarded me with the HP Web Printing service bug (I'm not blaming Norton for this, but only because I can't prove that their uninstall tool would actually cause this problem).

sweet, because *every* single issue I've ever had with Norton... Kaspersky solves.  You know those hated un-disable-able background scans?  Big K lets you disable them.  Annoying messages that can't be disabled without losing *all* of the threat alerts?  Guess who lets you turn them off one by one.  And how about this:  full-screen program (game) detection that actually works.

So, here's the product suggestion:  I know Norton is "different" from Kaspersky in a lot of ways, but for some things, you guys could really learn from your competitors.  It would not kill you (or ruin your software) to give your users a little more control over the program.  I know they (K) have had BSOD issues, but I'm pretty durn sure that they weren't related to the ability to disable background tasks, nor to "advanced" user controls over message boxes and the like.

I owe too much of my computing youth to the wonderful Norton Utilities to actually hate your company, but you've fallen far.  Unless K actually nukes my system, I don't think I'll be back.  Sorry.

Dick, it's been "fun"--you're a gentleman and a scholar, as the saying goes.

Everybody else... meh.  You win.  Trash my comments as you will; I won't be around to object.

Sincerely,

Stef
