For the last three or four months my parents have been unable to access any account on their PC without Norton popping up to inform them that there's an unresolved secruity risk. Said risk has already been taken care of by my father, and my own searching (When detected, I always delete viruses manually rather than trusting AV software to do it) has come up with nothing amiss.
According to Norton, the problem lies in the fact that the supposed virus is in a compressed file. However, nowhere in Norton-- not in the History panel, not in the scan results, not anywhere-- am I able to find the location of this file so that I can inspect it for myself.
Before folks start suggesting scanning in safe mode and all of that, let me be clear: I DO NOT want Norton to in any way delete, quarantine, or attempt to interact with this file for me. All I want it to do is to tell me where on the machine it is so that I can look at it myself. I've gotten false positives on files from AV software before, which is why I now have a policy of manually checking any file it attempts to flag. Could someone please tell me where in the Norton software I can find this information? Thank you.
