Hi @lmacri,

That did the trick!  Once I'd removed to extra extensions from the 'Overflow menu" all looks back to normal again.

Thanks for the heads-up!

About:config:

extensions.unifiedExtensions.enabled to false

Hi Krusty13:

I found that same suggestion in AskVG's 24-Aug-2022 [Tip] Enable “Extensions” Menu Button in Firefox Toolbar Similar to Chrome and Edge to toggle extensions.unifiedExtensions.enabled to false using the about:config page and then restart Firefox, and it seems to work for me (see second image below).

EDIT:

Perhaps the chevron (>>) you're seeing is because you have more extensions installed than I do and some of your extensions have been moved to the add-on overflow menu.  See the AddictiveTips article How to Hide Firefox Add-ons in the Overflow Menu.

The above does not really work for me.  It is just replace3d by two >> chevrons instead.

I just want to get rid of the ugly new button.

I just want to get rid of the ugly new button.

Does anyone know if the new Unified Extensions (jigsaw puzzle) icon in the toolbar of Firefox 109 is optimized for newer Manifest V3 extensions?  When I click that new icon it doesn't open the Extensions panel described in the Mozilla support article Manage Your Extensions Using the Extensions Button in the Toolbar, and the "Common Questions" section of that support article says that "If your extension is already pinned to the toolbar, it will not appear in the extensions panel".  Every Firefox extension I currently use was automatically pinned to the toolbar during installation to give me quick access to the extension settings.

At the moment, clicking that Unified Extensions button doesn't do anything except open my Add-on Manager (Tools | Add-ons and Themes, or about:addons) and lands me on the Recommendations tab to show me a curated list of extensions from their Recommended Extensions program.
