Firefox 25 Problem

Since this mornings upgrade to FF25 I have a problem opening FF.  It doesn't happen every time but it is becoming very annoying.

I get a pop-up saying Firefox is already running but not responding.  I have to restart my computer before I can use FF.  This has happened several times on both my W7 machines.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Next time it happens I'll grab a screenshot.

FWIW

I get the 'already running' error message from time to time and have discovered that it's usually from the way I've been trying to click the mouse - it double clicks!

[advice worth what you paid for it]

Thanks Dick, but this only started for me since the FF25 upgrade.

Here is a screenshot from my system.

It's happening so frequently now, that I will have to use another browser.

... Bloody Mozilla and their rapid release schedule!

Hi Dave, I got the Toolbar patch yesterday, and did an update to FF25 through the browser, and it's working fine. If anything maybe marginally quicker, to load. Btw, have you ever used SpeedyFox to optimise FF ? It might help. Link is below

Hi F4E,

Firefox is running fine and is quick enough, it just doesn't close properly sometimes, which means I either need to End the process in Task Manager or restart my computers.

No, I haven't used that program, but I may look at it one day.

I'm currently back to using IE 10 ... Urgh!  :smileyfrustrated:

How did you update ? Via the browser, or a full clean install ? I did that when I was having problems with FF 24, and it's been fine since...Firefox has always been a little temperamental, and I've had to force close it sometimes, but not often enough to be a problem.....It occasionally freezes, but I put that down to the pleasures of using open source apps !.....:smileywink:

Hi Dave,

I use Firefox very little, but I have now opened and closed FF25 a few times without any problems - just thought I'd let you know!

Cheers,

Laura

Hey, Laura ! Do you ever sleep ? It's the middle of the night, isn't it ?:smileylol:

Thanks Geoff and Laura,

It would appear that I'm not alone  -  https://input.mozilla.org/en-GB/?q=not+responding&date_end=2013-10-29&date_start=2013-10-22

:smileylol:  more or less....very early morning....:smileylol:

Hmmm, currently it's eating about 35 MBs. I wonder how long before we see a 25.1 version ? Memory leakage seems to be ongoing, either way...

I've been having the same issue, but thought it was due to installing a new internet security suite.  After uninstalling and re-installing the security suite, it still happens, so I went to the support sites for several security products, and a lot of people are experiencing the same issue.  I figured it must be a FF issue after that, which it apparently is...  Very unlike FF to have issues like this, as it usually performs great.  Don't like the other browsers, especially Chrome, so hopefully this bug will be fixed soon...

Yes, this has happened to me a couple of times since installing 25. Both times it happened were after checking for and installing updates to extensions. I've had it happen a number of times with older versions as well (when not updating extensions), so I don't think it's anything specific with v25. I'm assuming, in my case, that it may actually be caused by one or more extensions that I have installed that aren't playing nice.

I just kill firefox.exe in Task Manager. I hate restarting my computer.:smileywink:

Hi killyourtv,

It's only started since FF25 for me.

Me too.PNG!

This happened to me today too, never happened before FF25. Had to kill firefox.exe in TM.

Thanks Turbo,  I was feeling lonely for a few days.

For anyone who is having this problem and isn't aware, a short-cut to Task Manager is to right click the Windows Taskbar.

I too have had this problem since update to 25, rather annoying. Wonder if they are even working on it.

We will see.

FF26 is due for release next week.
