Firefox 9 Support for Norton Toolbar - Still not working

Followed the directions, but Toolbar still not enabled.  Correct version of Toobar is shown in Extension, but disabled.

Running Windows Vista.

Hi tkeutzer,

Welcome to Norton Community Forums,

Could you provide the product version(You can find it in NIS main UI->Support->About) and Toolbar version which you are seeing in FF-> tools-> Addons-> Extensions?

From FF8 onwards tool bar will not be enabled by default, Enable the Norton toolbar addons from Extension  and Restart FF

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Senthil.

fwiw ~ with my update.... Toolbar was enabled by default in my Admin Account.  OP may be in User Account.

When i got the product update for Norton Toolbar, after that i upgraded my Firefox to version 9.0.1.

when i started Firefox i discovered that Norton Toolbar was not activated, so i had to activate Norton Toolbar manually in Firefox extensions.

So think that its your problem, you have to go in to firefox extensions to manually activate Norton Toolbar, to make it active and work properly, after have done that you have to restart Firefox and Norton Toolbar will work as it should.

Good Luck

The versions I have are:  NIS ver.  19.2.0.10

In FF extensions, the toolbar shown is 2012.2.1.6   (shown as disabled)

FF ver. 9.0.1

There is no enable/disable botton available next to Norton Toolbar.

Note:  I just installed all OS and applications fresh today due to a hard drive failure.  Started with the installation of a new hard drive.

Hi tkeutzer,

Please read Tony_Weiss post ~ Firefox 9 Support for Norton Toolbar

2012.2.1.6 (previous version) -----> 2012.2.2.5 (updated version)

Welcome to the Community

Mysteriously, after restarting FF the 3rd or 4th time, with a fully system restart after the first attempt, it is now working.

The correct Toolbar version is shown and I was able to "Enable".

Hi tkeutzer,

Hi Bjm,

There are three scenario involved here.

If user installs/upgrades from FF8 to FF9 before applying the FF9 patch on the system, In FF addons it will show as Toolbar is incompatible . User needs to enable the addons to get the toolbar  enabled after applying FF9 patch.

If user has FF8 already on the computer, after applying the patch if he upgrades from FF8 to FF9 then toolbar will be enable by default

If user installs FF8/FF9 directly, then user has to select which are addons should be enabled after configuring FF8/FF9. This additional feature introduced from FF8 onwards.

Hope this clear your doubts :smileyhappy:

Thanks,

Senthil

Your detailed explanation re three scenarios does clarify issue for me and I expect for all that pass this way.

Too bad three scenaio info was not included with Tony_Weiss post.  Maybe next time.

Thanks for your time and interest.

After doing Norton updates and rebooting several times, FF8 & 9 still show the old add on 2012.2.1.6 and not 2012.2.2.5. Do I have to do a entire reinstall of Norton like I did with one of the FF updates?

Moved to own thread for better exposure.
