Enabled FF
Site Isolation, `fission.autostart` 'true'.

Attempted to test the facility, on a 'known bad, false positive url'.
2B confronted with Norton Isolation Mode. Log in to enable.

I've had a read-up, and FF appears to be more comprehensive a tool, than Norton.
FF emerges as 'sandbox'ish'. Whereas Norton exhibits 'read only'.
Any input would be appreciated.

I'm Banking-On, an expansion of the Banking Protection.
I did utilise Trusteer Rapport, back in the day; until, I found Norton covered the ground.
Still, all seems plane-sailing, with these Multi-Spoilt-4-Choice-Isolation Modes.

Hi  bjm_.
The Banking Protection is hit & miss.
The List of Supported Banks is limited. It needs to be universally comprehensive.

Users may submit their concerns thru Norton Feedback &or Product Suggestions -

Do not despair if your website is not on the list, we plan to add more so if you really want it to work with your website then send us a note by including it in our leave feedback

"If your name's not down, you ain't coming in !"
It all depends, which way the wind is blowing ?

Note: I've not checked Sign'd in as: with Firefox `fission.autostart` 'true'.
Note: I've not tested Safe Web Isolation Mode with Firefox `fission.autostart` 'true'.

Isolation Mode browsing safely and Isolation Mode Banking Protection - appears to work, for me, with Fission Windows 1/1 Enabled by user

as always, your mileage may vary

bjm_Thanks for the info.
I've enabled FF Isolation Mode. Norton Isolation Mode, appears to be a per occasion 'login'. Unless it's held on a cookie, I delete on closure.

Still, all is functioning as description. Haven't come up against any 'bugs', yet ?
The Banking Protection is not enabled. Something for the future, perhaps ?
SAFE IS GOOD !

FWIW ~

I think Norton Safe Web Isolation Mode does not change the way Firefox works.

I think Firefox processes are the same from Norton Safe Web block > Continue Without Isolation Mode vs. from Norton Safe Web block > Continue (Isolation Mode) -

I think Norton Safe Web Isolation Mode changes the way the website page/s works.

1) Norton Safe Web block > Continue (Isolation Mode) > website opens from Norton server (isolate.norton.com) in Isolation Mode & Protected View Read Only mode (when page asks for personal information) .

If you continue to browse the suspicious website in Isolation Mode, all the content of the website is displayed in read-only mode. Read-only mode ensures that no sensitive financial information is shared with an unknown and malicious website. It also prevents attackers from exploiting browser vulnerabilities to deliver malware to your device.

2) Norton Safe Web Banking Protection enabled > Bank website (supported bank websites) open from Norton server (isolate.norton.com) in Online Banking Protection mode.

Security benefits of using Isolation Mode

Several categories of threats are further mitigated by Isolation Mode:

  • Browser Vulnerabilities: You may have noticed how often browsers are updated with security fixes. There are many, many sub-categories of attacks in this category including denial of service, stack overflow, execution code, gain privilege, memory corruption, malicious extensions, directory traversal, SQL injection. When you use Isolation Mode, the Norton server takes on all the risk so you do not have to.

  • Phishing Attacks: If you are getting into isolation mode for online banking protection you can be sure that you are not getting phished because we will only launch it if you are connecting to a legitimate website.

  • Banking Trojans: The main goal of a banking trojan is to sit silently on your computer until you connect to a banking site. It will then scrape your credentials when you login to the site and send them to the hacker. Isolation mode makes it much harder for a trojan to carry out scraping because it confuses the website fingerprinting that most trojans use.

FWIW ~ IMO Norton documentation conflates Isolation Mode browsing safely with Isolation Mode Banking Protection -
