Hi larryt
Wow, doesn't sound like a very successful install. Bit hard to suggest what to do first, tho it sounds like the installation may have been corrupted.
Try this please: Download and run the Norton Removal Tool, then try to reinstall again.
Can you let us know how you go, thanks.

3rd problem - ever since downloading the software yesterday i have experienced problems with firefox. all my bookmarks disappear, i am no longer allowed to click "back", no history exists.
larryt - have you tried the zombie processes fix yet? If you haven't visit this thread and do whats written in message number 44. If the problem still exists after you have done this then my guess is you may have an firefox extension causing the problem. I can confirm that the skype extension for firefox will cause this problem and some other users have reported that an extension called PicLens will do it also. I would recommend uninstalling them from the addons tab to find out.
All the best!
