Firefox95’s latest security feature is designed to protect itself from buggy code

https://www.theverge.com/2021/12/6/22820045/firefox-rlbox-sandboxing-technology-security-subcomponents-modules   Firefox 95, the latest version of Mozilla’s browser that’s rolling out starting today, introduces a new security feature that’s designed to limit the damage that bugs and security vulnerabilities in its code can cause, Mozilla announced today. The feature, called RLBox, was developed with help from researchers at the University of California San Diego and the University of Texas, and it was originally released as a prototype last year. It’s coming to both the desktop and mobile versions of Firefox.   https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/95.0/releasenotes/  not yet updated

Firefox update brings a whole new sort of security sandbox

Hi ALF60:

Thanks for the heads up.

I'll have do more reading, but this new RLBox sandboxing technology in Firefox 95 sounds a bit like the new "Super Duper Secure Mode" (SDSM) that was introduced in MS Edge Edge v96.0.1054.29 (Privacy, Search and Services | Security | Enhance Your Security on the Web) that disables just-in-time (JIT) compiling of Javascript and actives Intel's Control-flow Enforcement Technology (CET), a hardware-based exploit mitigation.  The SDSM feature is still disabled by default in the current stable version of MS Edge but after reading Sergui Gatlan's 29-Nov-2021 Microsoft Edge Adds Super Duper Secure Mode to Stable Channel and Susan Bradley's 29-Nov-2021 How To Get More Out Of Edge (And Bolster Its Security) I decided to turn it on and left it at the pre-set "Balanced" setting to see if it causes any problems when I use MS Edge instead of my default Firefox browser.
