Last month I was helping a friend attempt to access a shared folder on one computer from another on their home wireless network. Eventually, we were only successful when we suspended the firewall on Norton Security (which both computers were using). Recognizing this, I added the MAC addresses of the computers as trusted devices to the firewall. However, access between the computers continued to fail once the firewall was re-enabled, and despite having the configured mutual trust, access was only possible when the firewall was suspended.
At least one machine was Win10, the other at least Win 8.
Anyone have any ideas why this behavior occured?
