Can the firewall in Windows and Norton Internet Security both be on, or should I turn off the Windows Firewall so there will be no conflict?

Thanks.  I changed it to Norton only.

Yes, they can both be on but Symantec advises not to run that way. With both on, it can become very difficult to diagnose connectivity issues and confusing to receive multiple notifications about a single network access.

Thanks.  I guess I’ll turn it back on.  This can be so confusing.  Since you are a Symantec employee, I’ll value your recommendation.  Thanks for following up on this and not letting me hang.

Ok. I have reread the your response again and I'm thinking that you are actually recommending me not to have WIndows Firewall on. Is this right?   I guess the question is, What would you do..."on" or "off?"

You read it right.

Two firewalls can be making a lot of trouble for your machine.

Just Norton Firewall on is safe

Norton’s Firewall is excellent and will Protect your computer, and I would only use Norton’s Firewall.

I am recommending that you run with only Norton Internet Security. My initial point is that we do test and verify that everything works, regardless of whether the Windows built-in firewall is enabled or not. Having both firewalls on, though, generally leads to confusion with no added security.

No, both cannot be on as there will be conflict; please Turn Off Windows' Firewall as soon as possible.

Also, you should only have one Security Product Installed at any one time.
