Hi, Sorry I'm very new to this so may sound a bit thick!
My Norton icon has a red box with a white cross in it and when I go into it, it says my computer is at risk.
I have clicked the Fix Now button and run the scans but it keeps coming up with the message 'Protection Updates' not fixed. I can't seem to get my computer back to the green tick.
Can anyone tell me what to do please? I've tried scouting through the help pages and have tried the 'Nathan' help but am having no joy.
I had the same thing a few weeks ago when I hadn't been on the pc for about a week and the virus def's were out of date. I didn't bother to click the 'fix now' button, instead I clicked on 'Run Live update' on the front UI screen and that fixed it. It updated the whole anti virus database, something like 90 odd megabytes. After it completes run it again and see. Should be ok after this.
If a manual LiveUpdate doesn't work, go to Support | Subscription Status. If Norton has lost track of the expiry date of your subscription on your local computer this may solve the problem (assuming the clock on your computer is set to the correct date and time).
When you open your Norton product (e.g., right-click on the icon in the system tray and select "Open Norton Internet Security") do you see any red squares down the right side of the main GUI next to AntiVirus, Smart Firewall, etc.? You may have inadvertently disabled one of the critical protection features in your Norton product. If so, just click to the left of the red square to re-enable the feature and see if your Fix Now message disappears.

Were you able to resolve your problem? These Fix Now issues can sometimes be a bit tricky to solve, especially if you have a firewall on your computer or home network router that automatically blocks files from downloading from the the Symanatec servers during a LiveUpdate. --------- Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP2 * NIS 2011 v. 18.6.0.29 * IE 9.0 * Firefox 6.0 HP Pavilion dv6835ca, Intel Core2Duo CPU T5550 @ 1.83 GHz, 3.0 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS
