The latest version of Norton Identity Safe (NISe) that was released to me on this machine about a month ago is flakey in how it "presents" automatic menu selection drop downs so that I might access the password vault features in NISe.
First and foremost the vault was redesigned to eliminate the folders and associate the login web page to "tags" instead of "folders". Although I clicked and tried to experience every nuance of the latest release when it happened a month ago, this did not seem to be a obvious transition nor could I find a way to locate the "folders" of logins which I previously sorted into the said "folders". Seems like this function is there now. A heads up on that as a naming convention modification would have been nice.
The more annoying issues:
The flash-like drop down NISe interface "Infobar" toolbar which drops down to ask about preferences "Which login would you like to use?" for that login and moves the screen image down also. This causes me to click where the login button is, yet inadvertently fails as the screen moves down as I attempt to click. The result is generally placing my click slightly above where I intended it to be. If I select "don't ask" then the alternative log in must be accessed with several clicks through the vault toolbar icon. I have several web interfaces where I have several accounts, some more than a handful, and may log into these several times a day and cannot set one login as more preferable over another. Having the drop-drown quick select feature is once, but this drop-down selection disappears if I set to ignore the "Infobar." This selection set NISe to ignore the page. I do not need the "Infobar" to constantly ask me to set a preference if I have several regularly accessed logins on a sigil site, but I do need the quick access drop down menu to select which log-in I wish to use for web sites where I maintain several accounts. Seems like a catch-22. I would expand comment on this but I am in Chrome and NISe is not directly accessible or functional at this time within Chrome.
Further issue with quick drop down menu. Where I have multiple logins for the same web interface: the "flash" selection drop down sometimes hovers quickly and disappears before I move cursers to it to select an alternative login. This usually ends up with a small game round of click, wait, appear, disappear and repeat of the NISe selection menus. The timing of selecting a change is too short and the timing of the click to revive the selection menu is too long. To that end this newer "flash" version seem to be more of a processor hog and creates a random, rather disappointing experience.
This occurs on my Fijitsu Win Vista laptop regardless of which browser is being used. Understandably this is 5 year old machine, but new and improved versions of software need to have a roll back feature if a user finds the interface of a newer version of software is incompatible. If I had a fifteen year old laptop, then yeah maybe its time to upgrade to a newer one, but this one is an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26 GHZ; not some cheap BestBuy discount crap bought for $400 either.
