Folder scanned; found virus - NIS history shows virus executed even though I didn't open it?

Hi

I scanned a folder with NIS 2010. I didn't execute anything in there. NIS finds viruses and deletes them. I go to history and I see that NIS found viruses in a lot different places too, even though I didn't execute that (and I was virus free before then, 100 % sure). So does NIS execute viruses and then clean up after them or what is the deal?

Example: Virus.exe in Folder A. I did not open it. NIS scans. I check NIS history and I see:

Virus.exe

Deleted

C:\Windows\System32\virus4.exe

No action required

.. and many more like this. Those files did not exist. Funny thing it said "No action required" for those files (virus4.exe etc.)

(And I checked for that virus; it seems to spread to system32 and rename itself like that)
