I can't seem to figure out how to fix this small font size issue I am having after installation of Norton Internet Security on my laptop that is running Windows 7. I installed Norton last night. So this is a new issue that I am getting as of this morning.
I have tried changing fonts in the personalization section of the desktop menu. However that only seems to change the font size of the File tool bar at top of windows. In fact, I am having a wierd issue on this particular web form right now. The Body of the form is typing out fine. However the Subject Box and the Attachment box are the extremely small font. I attached a pdf of a screen shot of issue I am having which I hope helps explain. Any help / fixes is greatly appreaciated.
What was the previous security program installed and how was it removed? Can you try to set IE back to it's default settings and see if that helps.? Thanks.
Seems to be better in Firefox, but still has a few areas where there is this weird small font. Like for example in the "Cards & Login" pull down menut. But font is better on this form for example in Firefox.
You have to use the removal tool from the AVG website to thoroughly remove AVG. Run that tool twice. Installing your Norton product on a machine which still might have remnants of another security program might be interfering with your Norton product. If the AVG tool finds any parts of AVG still on your computer, I would then recommend that you uninstall your Norton product with the Norton Removal Tool and then install your Norton product again. After you do that, then see if you are still having your problem.
Please remember to run live update after install to make sure all updates are received and then please reboot.
Disconnect from the net and run the removal tool from AVG first, then run the removal tool from Norton 2 times with reboots after each run of it, then install NIS and run live update continuously until you have no more updates to get. Connect back to the net when it wants you to.
Please come back and let us know if this has solved your problem. Thank.s

Ok, I tried all of this. Still have the problem. One thing I did notice and not sure if it matters, but the uninstall link you gave me doesn't seem to uninstall, everything. When I reloaded it back on it did not ask me for my product key. It just worked.
The Norton Removal tool is supposed to leave behind the file with your key in it. I had asked you to get your product key just in case it didn't leave that file behind.
We can't see the screen shot until the Mods approve it.
Resolution is 1366 x 768 (which according to computer is recommended). I don't see how it is a resolution issue though because first everything else prints out fine (wish you could see the screen shot) execpt for certain items. I have messed with resizing resolution and that just makes things weirdly big and still can't really read the items I am having issues with.
My computer is a Toshiba Satellite T135D. Screen is 14.5".
Well I tried all these with no luck. No matter what I seem to do with font or font size or resolution it does not seem to affect the font in these areas. Just went to another website for example (southwest.com) and the area where you enter the airport and dates to search for available flights has this wierdly small and unreadable font as well. I just don't understand where these areas are getting their direction for font info on my computer.
By any chance, have you tried using the compatilbility view on these websites and see if that makes any difference? I know I use the compatibility view for this Forum as well as for other websites.. Maybe this will help your problem. Let us know. Thanks.
nope that has not effect. not sure issue is limited to webpages as this font issue starts with the "cards & logins" pull down menu at in the Norton Toolbar.
Don't know if this helps at all in figuring out the issue but I opened iTunes last night and I am getting same oddly small font in there on some items.
It appears you have working at this for quite some time. I have been able to "semi-reproduce" your issue, but when I do, it affects more than just forms and the Identity Safe drop down list.
Would you mind giving this a try?
• Go to Control Panel > Fonts.
• In the left pane, click Font settings.
• In the next window, click Restore default font settings.
• (please note the default check mark in "Hide fonts based on language settings")
Putting aside the iTunes issue, this seems mostly confined to Norton and began after you installed the product. Your Norton application may not have installed properly. Try uninstalling and reinstalling NIS, using the Norton Removal Tool. Be aware that the NRT will remove all Norton products so if you have other programs, such as Norton Ghost, you would need to reinstall them also after using the tool,
As I understand the chronology of events, this started occurring after installation of NIS. Would this be correct?
We know that NIS does not have any sort of generic problem which would cause this but it could be an indication that perhaps there is some sort of conflict with something else you have installed.
So there are a couple of things I'd like to try in order to hopefully help narrow down the problem.
1. Try booting into SAFE mode. Restart your computer and keep hitting the F8 key until you get a boot menu and then select Safe Mode with Networking. Then log into your desktop and check for the issue. Please note that fonts will look noticeably different in SAFE mode so you won't be able to compare this to regular mode but you can look at delta between different areas where you know you see the problem in regular mode.
Does SAFE mode make a difference?
2. If SAFE mode helped, or even if it didn't it would not hurt to try this. I'd like you to try using msconfig to do a selective startup. To do this please go to Windows start menu and type in msconfig in the search box and hit Return. This will bring up the System Configuration Window. Click on the Services tab and down at the bottom put a checkmark on Hide All Microsoft Services. Then click Disable All on the bottom right. Now go back through the list and put a checkmark back on anything which has Norton or Symantec in the Service or Manufacturer columns. Then click on the Startup tab and again click Disable All. As before, go back through the list putting a checkmark on any Norton or Symantec related entries.
Then click Apply and OK and restart you computer. Let it boot up normally, log in and check for the font issue.
